FUE Method
What Is A FUE Hair Transplant?
With FUE hair transplantation, each individual follicular unit is harvested from the scalp. The hair follicles are removed in a random fashion, allowing your physician to harvest hair from the donor area with less noticeable thinning of the area. With Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), hair is harvested through microscopic circular incisions on the scalp.
There are two types of FUE hair transplants: Manual FUE and Robotic FUE.
A Manual FUE hair transplant is done by a physician using a handheld device to extract the individual hair follicles.
A Robotic FUE procedure uses a robotic hair transplant device that is guided by the physician. The physician selects the amount of hair desired for harvesting and maps out the desired donor area. The physician does not actually harvest the donor grafts; the harvesting step is completed by the ARTAS robot. This medical marvel of technology offers unparalleled precision and accuracy.
Benefits Of Robotic FUE Hair Transplants
High Graft Quality
The computerized ARTAS FUE system allows for real-time 3D analysis and calculation of the characteristics of each hair follicle.
This allows the robot to select the healthiest and strongest follicles for successful harvesting and transplant.
Natural Looking Results
The ARTAS FUE method harvests and transplants hairs in their natural groupings, leaving NO linear scar behind.
This gives hair a more natural appearance and allows you to wear your hair as short as you like with without having to worry about a visible scar.
No Pain During Or After Treatment
Similar to a trip to the dentist, the FUE procedure uses local anesthesia to ensure minimal discomfort during the procedure. Since the FUE transplant uses a minimally invasive method, many patients experience minimal pain during or after their procedure.
Short Recovery Time
With no scalpel or stitches used in the treatment, the recovery process after an FUE transplant is quick, with many people getting back to their daily activities within a couple of days. The procedure itself only takes about 8 hours.
Minimal Scarring In Donor Area
Since the follicles are harvested in a random fashion, the look and density of the donor area is miminally affected. FUE is a treatment of choice for people that prefer to wear their hair very short at the back because the donor area looks unaffected and unaltered.
Candidates For Robotic FUE Transplant
Men with thinning hair or balding at the top or front of their head are ideal candidates for the ARTAS robotic transplant. Since the hair is transplanted from a donor area at the back of the head, it also depends on the density and stability of your hair in that area.
FUE is a great option for patients who are not otherwise good candidates for FUT, whether because they have minimal hair in the donor area or have a soft scalp.
How Successful Is A FUE Hair Transplant?
FUE transplants can be just as successful as the more traditional FUT method, with graft survival rates of 90%. With Robotic FUE technology, the success rate of the procedure can be as high as 100%. The level of success is based the skill, knowledge, and experience of the doctor performing the procedure.
Before Hair Transplant Procedure in Istanbul
Before the procedure, an interview with the patient is mandatory. We discuss the future design of hair growth, determine the number of grafts needed to achieve an aesthetically acceptable result.
Choose a donor zone (this may be the nape, beard, and/or body). With a scarce donor supply, the FUE method allows you to get additional grafts from the body (from the chest, legs, shoulders, back, beard, etc.).
Processes Of Procedure
For hair transplantation, local anesthesia is applied. The transplant surgeon and his assistants prepare the donor zone.
In the area of the donor zone using the point method (punch method), we remove hair grafts when the surgeon selects each graft individually with a special apparatus. We implant the obtained grafts into the baldness zone, due to which it does not leave linear scars (cicatrixes).
After a hair transplant with the FUE method, little cicatrixes in the form of small red markings remain on the nape, they heal and become invisible over time.
After The Hair Transplant Procedure
After the procedure, you receive a set consisting of detailed recommendations on how to behave within 14 days after the procedure, as well as everything necessary for care.
After 8-10 months, the transplanted hair will finally gain strength, grow in length and become thicker.
You will notice a larger volume, which will be proportional to the width of the hair shaft and the length of the hair.
You can easily control the length of the hair, the more voluminous the hair will look, the more voluminous the hairdress will look.
If you like the volume and length, then you can comb your hair back, which will additionally visually increase the total amount of hair. Within a month after the transplant, you can use any modern hair care and strengthening products of your choice.

FAQ FUE in Istanbul Turkey
What are the advantages of ARTAS vs the Strip Method (FUT) or other hair transplant methods?
The ARTAS FUE method harvests and transplants hairs in their natural groupings, avoiding any linear scar. This gives hair a more natural appearance and allows you to wear your hair as short as you like with no visible scar.
Does the procedure hurt?
The ARTAS robotic transplant is a minimally invasive procedure. As a result, you should not expect to experience much pain or discomfort during or after the procedure. Local anesthetic is applied to numb the scalp so the procedure is pain-free.
How long does the procedure take?
In most cases, the procedure takes around 6-8 hours. The length of your procedure will depend on the amount of hair restoration that is required in your individual case.
How will my donor area look post-procedure?
After the procedure, your donor area grows quickly and blends with surrounding hair. Your donor site is undetectable 7-10 days after your procedure.
Is there any recovery time?
You may experience some mild swelling or discomfort, which usually subsides within 48 hours of the procedure. Since there are no incisions or stitches required, down time is short with most people able to go back to their daily activities within 2-3 days.
Are the results permanent?
Yes. Since this method uses your own permanent, growing hair from the donor area, the results of the ARTAS hair restoration surgery are designed to last a lifetime.
How long will it take to see results?
After a few months, your transplanted hair will begin to grow in its new location. Like the rest of your hair, your newly transplanted hair will grow steadily over time. After six months, you will enjoy a significant growth, with final results after a full year.
